A brief layout of my solar system that I added to my small house. This house is still hooked up to the grid. I use it to run all the lights in my home and the tv, every day. I am able to run anything up to 1000 watts if needed

Its still surprises me, how some people have no idea about Xobotano Home Energy (just google it), even though lots of people save huge? amounts of money with this alternative energy. Thanks to my buddy who told me about Xobotano Home Energy, I have cut my power bill by 75% in less than 30 days

Hey. the more batteries you have, the more juice you can store. That's it. in this vid, if I went out and got two more pairs of 6v batteries, I could store double the energy as I can now. The? outlet thing could be done with a better (seine wave) inverter. They produce cleaner energy that you get from the grid, but man they cost a pretty penny. One of these days though

Anyone; if I were to have the same panels as is this vid with 10 12v batteries would it hurt the? system(same setup as this vid). Eg, melt wires? Shorten life of panels? And is it possible to run from converter to direct receptical outlets in walls? ( just to make it look clean) thanks.

HOW MUCH MONEY? DO YOU SAVE MONTHLY

Nice video. Thanks for sharing! Just a suggestion, you may want to get a cover or something for the outdoor light bulb above your door. That's in a bad position to get nasty particles everywhere if it gets broken (could blow a bunch of that stuff into your house). Thanks again though for showing your? set-up.

Nice setup man. I just started my setup, just a 50w panel and a single 125aH DC Marine battery...I'm addicted already I'm? sure!

great setup!! simple and effective!!?

Looked ok, but are your battery cables fused? And? why such a big diconnect for that solar panel?
By: Draco1dormiens. on 11 Apr 12, 01:30:17
Silly, I see? panels for .97 cents a watt sometimes .70 cents. $300 is so 4 years ago, lol

Great setup thanks for? sharing.

double the batteries and double the pannels would be sweet, but any more panels would require an upgrade to my charge controller. Double this bank and you'd have 880 amp hrs of storage. Would be a great setup for a? cabin. You could probly get the whole thing for $3000 today. Solar has droped in price since i made this vid

What if you did a little over kill? What if you doubled the amount of panels and batteries? What could that power and for how long? Also how? much would it roughly cost (for the whole thing)?

Hi that is good but I still need some help . It about watts ' volts ' and am numbers I mean I already have a 2000w inverter and I want to know which 12v solar panel I get it's the 10w or the 5w one or deferent one . How many? 12v batteries do I need to get the 2000w power . Thanks allot

Nice design and nice video. But be careful with the way you are running unprotected wires... In particular,? you're running unprotected wires around a door entryway. Someone carrying something heavy, perhaps metal, could bump into a wire and have a shocking experience. Try running your wires through the wall and in conduits.

Great video,? thanks. I was wondering, if I had that system with half the batteries, would it run 5 lights, and a 200w mini heater for a a few days? I am looking to only set up a minimal system so my main rooms have free lighting, but the ability to run a mini heater at 200 watts would be a nice extra. Most heaters use at least 900 watts so I know that would push the system.
By: bkpickell. on 05 Mar 12, 03:34:23
Whoops! I meant run? the batteries in Parallel. Sorry about that.
By: bkpickell. on 05 Mar 12, 03:32:54
Completely off grid can get pricey, but it all depends on what you are going to be running. Also if it is cabin that you will only be living in for a weekend, then you can get by pretty? cheap. Your biggest cost will be the batteries. You will want to run a lot of batteries in series. Enough to run your whole cabin for the whole weekend, and then let your panels charge the batteries while you are not there.
By: bkpickell. on 05 Mar 12, 03:29:55
Yes you can. You can? run it into a breaker box and rewire whatever circuits you want to run off of solar into that box.
By: bkpickell. on 05 Mar 12, 03:27:18
Oh and honestly for all of the benefits you get even at $300 I wouldn't say that it is too much. By benefits I mean a 30% tax break, that alone amounts to thousands in savings for me. Also in the state I live in; solar? power qualifies for a property tax exemption. That is yet another $1500 annual savings. You could take all of your exemptions and roll it into more panels, and eventually the electric company will be cutting you a check every month.

You're looking in the wrong places. I have seen 120 Watt panels going for $150. I have also seen some places running them as cheap as $1/watt.? You just have to look for the deals.
By: koolfoolable. on 03 Mar 12, 06:41:29
Hi just saying that if you buy from the manufacturer it's more like $80-$150 range which is much more reasonable.?
By: MarkFrap. on 29 Feb 12, 06:40:44
is it possible to hook the inverter up to say your surge box to hook it up so like my high hat lights in the living room can be powered since they are not? plugged into an outlet in the wall?

good info, just started looking at solar? setups, thanks for the video
